Maxon has completed its acquisition of PixelLogic, makers of ZBrush following approval by regulators.
While details are still forthcoming, the acquisition was finalized December 29, 2021.
Pixelogic and Maxon have both maintained that the pricing for ZBrush, Pixelogic’s flagship sculpting software package, will remain unchanged. In reality, Maxon announced that it would be ending Pixelogic’s perpetual licensing program, which allowed continuous free upgrades since the software’s launch in 1999.
Users who purchased a license before the completion date of the acquisition can expect free upgrades for one year, but newer licenses will be on a paid basis, similar to Maxon’s line of other products and software solutions.
