Autodesk Releases Flame 2024

Autodesk released version 2024 of Flame, its popular VFX and finishing software.

Included in this release:

  • Native Apple Silicon support - Flame, Flame Assist, and Flare are now natively supported on Mac computers equipped with Apple silicon processors, like the M1 and M2. (as is backburner).

  • Enhanced workflow collaboration with Start Frame. The Clips and Timeline segments source media start and end values now show a dedicated value instead of showing the output of a converted timecode value; they now have their own Start Frame metadata. This Start Frame is decoupled from the timecode value that can be set inside the application.

  • Update Batch Paint Node.

  • Metadata overlay for its player.

  • CentOS no longer supported (Rocky Linux required)

  • Deprecation of Support for Sparks - As part of the continuous modernization of Autodesk Flame Family products, Sparks plugins support and its API are no longer available in Flame Family products.

The new release also features several smaller updates requested by customers, ideally helping to iron out a few performance and user interface-related pain points.
